Alchemy in the Raspberry Workshop

This is a translation of a Bulgarian-language post. It conveys the content faithfully but is not the author's original English writing.

In recent days I had the joy of experimenting in the workshop with making fruit leathers from blueberries and lingonberries.

Thanks to a pile of scientific papers online, I learned a lot about their antioxidant and healing properties and the possibility of preserving them by drying. Then I managed to apply what I had learned in practice and to combine them in different proportions with goodies such as chia, lavender, cinnamon, coconut and vanilla — and in the various mixes I softened their astringent taste with sweets such as honey, liquid stevia and maple syrup.

Of course, I did not hesitate to wed them to our raspberries either!

The results? Extremely aromatic, tasty, health-beneficial, long-keeping fruit leathers!

The experiments will continue in the coming weeks with wild rosehips, hawthorn, cornelian cherries and walnuts, as well as with apples, pears, quinces and pumpkin 😃
