Over the years, the media's interest in us and in our choice of lifestyle has not stopped growing. Back when few had heard of permaculture and a sustainable way of life — and I myself had no idea how to translate the terminology of everything I was reading and soaking up online — at the very start of 2009 the programme Brazdi was the first to visit us. What is interesting is that even then we had a completely clear idea of what we wanted to do — a vision for the project, and the enthusiasm proper to two newly-in-love people, for whom even the boundless ocean is knee-deep.

Later, my long-time friend and former colleague Mariana Vekilska came to interview us for bTV's "The Reporters" for the report on the Downshifters, which gained a super rating. (Our part is from the 7th minute!)

That was the first time this term, "downshifting", was used on the home airwaves; and now, although we were pioneers then, a similar path back to the roots is shared by hundreds of families, some of them also returned from abroad. Although Nikola and I now live apart, and many of the problems of such a lifestyle remain to this day hidden from the cameras and lenses, it was wonderful then to see how many people support us in our choice and wish us success!
