This is a translation of a Bulgarian-language post. It conveys the content faithfully but is not the author's original English writing.

🧂🌶️ The jalapeño is older than the pyramids!

It comes from Mexico, where the Aztecs used it more than 6,000 years ago, and its name comes from the town of Xalapa in the state of Veracruz. It is rich in vitamin C, vitamin A and potassium — supporting the immune system, eyesight and the cardiovascular system — and its antioxidants protect against ageing (I suspect this is true of most hot peppers). Speaking of heat, its pungency is measured on the Scoville scale — from 2,500 to 8,000 units, which makes it moderately spicy; but the capsaicin in it stimulates endorphins and lifts the mood. It also speeds up digestion and acts as an antibacterial.

If you are convinced of its benefits, here is a recipe for jalapeño salt! With it you take micro-doses of jalapeño every time you salt your food. 🌶️🧂
