β οΈ Important safety notes β
Rosemary is generally safe when used in culinary amounts and as a traditional tea. Excessive or improper use of concentrated forms can cause adverse reactions. Large quantities can irritate the stomach and cause nausea, vomiting or diarrhoea. Since rosemary contains active substances metabolised by the liver, excessive use (especially of concentrated extracts, tinctures or essential oil) can burden liver function. Rosemary stimulates circulation and, in some people, may raise blood pressure at high or concentrated doses β with such sensitivity, moderation is necessary. Rosemary essential oil is highly concentrated and should not be taken internally! It is intended solely for aromatic, or properly diluted external, use.
Moderation is key β traditional teas and culinary amounts remain the safest and gentlest ways to use it.
Always research thoroughly before introducing a new herb into your regimen, especially if you have health conditions, are pregnant, are breastfeeding, or are taking medication.
