Translation

This is a translation of a Bulgarian-language post. It conveys the content faithfully but is not the author's original English writing.

Summer savory, when grown nearby, improves the flavour of green beans and protects them from pests. The antibiotic properties of onion, garlic and leek — as well as of gladioli — kill the bacteria on the roots of legumes with whose help they fix nitrogen into the soil, so they should never be near one another!

Tagetes (marigold), here and there in the row, helps repel the Mexican bean beetle. And the traditional Native American "Three Sisters" garden — corn, pole beans and squash — is a wonderful example of the benefits of plant companionship, preserved through the centuries to this day.
